Last Friday rooms 1,5,6 did some awesome creations/models of our mini design of our big airship that we have not made yet. It was as awesome as it could ever be! You may be jealous but it was hard work. If you want to make one we will tell you how by making a list.
*Draw a design of your model
* Label the parts and what you are going to use.
* Get what you need. A tip: (A mini plastic bottle makes a great body.)
*Stick parts together.(best to use strong glue or cellotape.)
*Paper mache: This is the hard and long bit. You need a massive piece of light, thin paper. Then you need to tear bits that are about as fat as cellotape and as long as your thumb to index finger stretching out. Use the glue that is like wallpaper glue. Stick the thin bits of paper on the model to cover the airship so it will join the bits together a
nd it will be easier to paint.
*Paint the airship in old fashion colours like grey and brown.
It should end up looking like an airship. If it did not work or it has fallen apart you have not done it write.
Thank to our brilliant teacher a
id Lisa!!!

Last week on Thursday we watched a Maori performance. It was about M

aori myths and legends. There was three boy and three girls. One of the boys was really funny and his name was Izaac.
The Kaupapa Maori group from our school Fenwick did Haere Mai to welcome them to our school. Then we sat down and waited.
Next they did the haka, all 6 of them.It was really loud and awesome! Did you know they were wearing traditional Maori clothes. They were beautiful and very lovely. I wished I could have been up there to wear them and do the fantastic dances with them. It would be an opportunity of a life time experience.
Later they performed a story about 3 brothers and one of them was naughty and lied. He did not listen to the other two brothers who caught all the food for them. But the two bigger brothers did not share with the littles
t one and were mean to him.It was not nice and I wouldn’t ever like be him even if it was my last choice. But the littlest brother stole the rest of the fish out of the barn when the two bigger brothers went to catch more some more fish and when the two bigger brothers came back he pretended that he was hurt and that some robbers stole all the food in the barn.
Next they performed another story. It was my favourite because it was extremely FUNNY!
It was funny because there was a man dressed up as a big white bird chasing the naughty boy around the audience. Then he saw a big rock that closed up when he went in. Then the bird made funny bird noises and went away. Soon the big rock opened and he walked out.
Later they performed a story about sea but they told us the story by making pictures with long strings it looked FANTASTIC! and looked really difficult to learn how to do it.I would not like to be in the spot light like them.
After the last story they performed a Maori song and one of the boys played a song on the guitar and the rest were sing.
Later it was time to leave I was so sad when we had to leave. I wish we could see an encore because it was so good it would be awesome if their performance went on for the rest of the day .I hope they come back another time !!!!!

For week 1 and week 2 of term 2 we are learning about being firewise – what to do if there is a fire, our escape plans and the danger of fire. The children also have home activities to do, including making an escape plan at home and a safe place to meet.

This week we read ‘The True Story of the Three little Pigs’. This story is told by the Big, Bad Wolf aka. Alexander Wolf. As you can imagine it tells a different story!
After reading this, we used drama techniques such as ‘Hot Seating’ and Freeze Frames’ to look closely at the story and to understand the characters in the story. From there we designed questions that we could ask the wolf (Alexander).
Here are photos of us doing ‘Freeze Frame’ photos of moments in the story!

Our design is called the Powder Scope. We made it so it squirts out powder that you can smell, see and feel it. The Powder Scope takes exactly 2 minutes to work. It works on 50 people before it runs out. If you run away, it follows you everywhere. It only has one button. It comes out a big tube with no glass.
